  • Thailand Top Travel Ideas To Include in Your Non-Package Holiday:

There are so many things to do in Thailand, but here are 10 special travel ideas for you to consider.

You’re heading to Thailand and you want to have some fun and do things a little different from back home.  Here are our top 10 Thailand travel ideas that you will certainly remember for a long time thereafter, and no doubt tell your friends about, and they’ll actually be interested (you can add any of these to you’re my Thailand Home customized Holiday Packages to make this a holiday to remember):

    1.    Tour Thailand’s Many Amazing Wats.  What’s a Wat?  Wats are Thailand temples and there are so many stunning ones scattered around the country. The capital Bangkok is awash with beautiful and glimmering Thai Wats and a great place to start.  In Bangkok, you will need to visit Wat Phra Kaew, which is next to the Royal Palace, and houses the sacred Emerald Buddha. The Emerald Buddha is Thailand’s most sacred Buddha image and one of the true wonders of the country. For ancient Wats, go to Ayutthaya and Sukothai, the ancient capitals. We should also mention the Royal Palace here, it’s not one to miss from the list, even if it tends to be crammed with tourists (you won’t regret it).

    2.    Why not window shop on the famous floating markets (not that far from Bangkok), which is another well known icon of Thailand. You get to travel by a long-tail river boat and enjoy being surrounded by eager vendors selling their wares from hundreds of canoes.

    3.    Ride an elephant, okay you don’t really need to ride one if you don’t want to, but there’s something quite exciting about being in a place packed with these giant ancient creatures that still walk this earth. Sometime you’ll see them meandering down the bustling streets of Bangkok, but there are special places where you can visit them and ride atop these four legged wonders with a top down view of your own, be it on a well worn dirt trail, up a mountain or in the dense jungle. Elephants are highly regarded in Thailand, and part of the country’s rich and exciting cultural heritage.

    4.    Cruise on the Chao Phaya river, known as the “River of Kings.” You can take a boat tour, travel in your own privately hired long tail boat or take a romantic dinner cruise on this majestic river with its many klongs (canals).

    5.    Take a safari around Phuket. If you’re heading to Phuket, why not take in a completely customized safari, including a visit to an elephant conservation centre, and get to watch monkeys harvesting coconuts. A trip taking in wonderful marine life can also be part of your land and see wildlife safari holiday.

    6.    Go beneath the surface in an underwater snorkeling diving experience to really stimulate your visual senses.  You’ll take in amazing views if you opt for a snorkeling trip around Koh Samui. You’ll visit nearby Koh Tao and Koh Nangyuan islands with beautiful diving areas.  Crystal waters await you as you dive down and enjoy the spectacle of the corals and plentitude of diverse and colourful fish.

    7.    Stand by the famous Bridge Over the River Kwai.  Made famous from David Leans’ epic war film, this is a history lesson that will bring tears to your eyes when you see it for real. It’s a chilling reminder of the price that the POWs paid who lost their lives in World War II building the bridge, and there’s a war museum nearby to recount the tragic story.

    8.    Remember "The Man with The Golden Gun," Roger Moore as James Bond, and that remote sandy beach island that looked like a dream. This is Phang Nga Bay, a national marine park filled with myriad such islands, limestone cliffs and sumptuous caves. You can take a delightful canoe trip into these sea caves and with your guide you can find hidden waterways with centuries old stalacites and then spend the rest of the day at your own secluded beach where you can then enjoy a swim. These now famous caves were only discovered in 1990.

    9.    Jungle Trek, yes, get closer to nature, okay this isn’t one for everyone, but have you ever desired to trek through a dense jungle in relative safety and then reminded yourself that’s only something you’ll ever see in movies. Well, in the north of Thailand, you can have an escorted jungle tour and head towards the well known Golden Triangle where Myanmar, Laos and Thailand meet.  It is also known as the gateway to Myanmar, Laos and Southern China. You can meet and greet friendly hill tribes and feel like you have truly arrived in another world.

    10.  Get some good Thai vibes going for yourself, and spend some taking care of your body while reviving and placating your soul.  There are an abundance of natural wellness services in Thailand, with some of the world famous to be found in the Land of Smiles. You can have meditation sessions, with resorts such as the famous Chiva Som Resort offering you ancient eastern treatments that will help to strengthen and revive you mind, body and soul all in one go.
